Disclaimer: I am not actually a cowgirl.

I have two cats whom I adore.

When I’m not busy adoring them, I work on games.

I began my career in games as an associate editor at the Alternate Reality Gaming Network, where I managed a staff of writers and edited their journalistic work documenting the emerging ARG genre, as well as hosting the bi-weekly Alternate Reality Gaming Netcast. I was then tapped for game-making myself by the inventor of the genre, Jordan Weisman (creator of Battletech, Mechwarrior, Shadowrun, and Crimson Skies, and founder of FASA, Wizkids, and 42 Entertainment), and took a job as continuity editor and then game designer with his new company Edoc Laundry — an initiative combining ARGs with an exciting new platform: clothing — as well as working on the New York Times-bestseller Cathy’s Book, an early transmedia novel. While at Edoc Laundry, I created integrated campaigns with Twentieth-Century Fox and Vside (a music-oriented virtual world for teenagers). I also served as Edoc Laundry’s community architect and created and edited original web video content for the game.

I solidified my status as a transmedia specialist during my time at Smith & Tinker, an innovator in the field. As a media editor and transmedia designer there, I created and directed transmedia campaigns (including game content, viral marketing and social networking approaches) for games, novels, comics, and other products across a variety of media, as well as writing and directing an animated children’s web series that reached over two million views on YouTube. In addition to my work at Microsoft, I am a marketing consultant for Perseus Books Group and host “Games With Garfield,” a bi-weekly podcast on game design with Magic: The Gathering creator Richard Garfield.

So, during all of this I’ve worked (not always with expertise) as a project manager, game designer, scriptwriter, editor, transmedia producer, marketing consultant, technical documentation creator, web designer, sound engineer, video editor, community manager, voice actress, ad artist, speaker, and coffee-getter/notetaker.

I now work as an editor for Microsoft Games Studio, where I also consult with internal teams on transmedia and franchise development.

Other than that, I’m from Wisconsin, I narrowly escaped being a lawyer, I accidentally ended up as an agility handler for an Australian Cattle Dog/German Shepherd? or Doberman? mix, I started out as a violin performance major and ended up as a lit major and was one or two credits short of degrees in a lot of other things…

But more importantly, I share my apartment with Molly and Lucy.

Just your average twentysomething: navigating the wilds of the Internet, carrying on 9 IM conversations at once, trying to reconcile fashion with comfort, hacking things that weren\'t intended to be hacked, encouraging entertainment to color outside the lines, reinventing play, chipping away at the fourth wall, and trying to figure out what the heck I\'m going to eat for dinner tonight. I\'m a games editor with Microsoft Games Studio, coming off a stint as a transmedia designer with Smith & Tinker, which was my solution to discovering that I didn\'t want to be a lawyer. All of which makes perfect sense, since I\'m a lit major whose parents didn\'t let her play video games growing up.
